Start your journey from the Arorangi Beach area. Head east along the main road, Avarua Road, which runs parallel to the coast. Continue walking for about 2 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the main road leading into the center of Avarua. At the intersection, turn left onto the main road.

After turning left, continue straight for approximately 1 kilometer. You will pass by several local shops and cafes on your right. Keep an eye out for a sign indicating Te Rua Manga or The Needle, which will help you confirm you are heading in the right direction.

As you approach the area of Avarua, you’ll eventually see a sign directing you toward Te Rua Manga on your left. Take this turn and follow the path that leads to the base of the hill. The path can be a bit steep, so ensure you are wearing comfortable shoes.

Once you reach the base of Te Rua Manga, you will see a well-marked trail. Follow this trail, which will lead you upwards towards the summit. The hike takes about 30-45 minutes and offers stunning views along the way, so take your time and enjoy the scenery.
