Walking
From the center of Avatiu, head south towards the main road (Ara Tapu). As you walk along, enjoy the local shops and scenery. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Ara Metua. Turn left onto Ara Metua and follow it as it curves around the coastline. After about 500 meters, you will see a sign for Te Rua Manga. Follow the signs, which will lead you to the trailhead located at the base of the mountain.

Once you reach the trailhead, prepare for a hike. The trail is well-marked and can be somewhat steep, so ensure you have sturdy shoes and plenty of water. Follow the trail as it winds up the mountain, keeping an eye out for the stunning views of the surrounding area. After approximately 30-45 minutes of hiking, you will reach the summit of Te Rua Manga (The Needle). At the top, take a moment to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views.
