Car
From Akureyri, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading south. After approximately 50 km, turn onto Route 35 towards Blönduós. Continue on Route 35 until you reach the junction with Route 30. Turn left onto Route 30 and follow it for about 40 km until you arrive at the junction with Route 1 again. Take a right onto Route 1 and continue until you reach the junction with Route 32. Turn left onto Route 32. Drive for approximately 30 km, then turn onto the Kjölur road (F35) towards Hveravellir. Follow F35 for about 20 km, and you will see signs directing you to the Hveravellir geothermal area. Make sure to have a 4x4 vehicle, as the roads can be rough, especially in certain seasons.

If you're using public transportation, you can take a bus from Reykjavik to Blönduós. From Blönduós, you will need to arrange a taxi or a tour service that can take you to Hveravellir, as there is no direct bus service. Make sure to check the schedules in advance, as they may be limited depending on the season. The taxi fare can vary, so be prepared for costs that could range from 10,000 ISK to 20,000 ISK or more, depending on the distance and the service provider.
