Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Hida and head towards Takayama. Follow Route 158 towards Takayama City. After approximately 15 minutes, you will enter Takayama. Continue on Route 158 until you reach the intersection with Route 41. Turn left onto Route 41, then take a right onto Wakatatsumachi Street. Unryu Temple will be on your left at 1 Chome-86 Wakatatsumachi. There is parking available nearby, but be aware that some lots may charge a small fee.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, take a bus from Hida's main bus terminal to Takayama Station. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes and tickets cost around 600 yen. Once you arrive at Takayama Station, exit the station and walk towards the bus terminal located next to it. From there, you can take a local bus heading towards Wakatatsumachi. The bus ride will take approximately 10 minutes. Get off at the Wakatatsumachi stop, and from there, Unryu Temple is a short 5-minute walk. Follow the signs to 1 Chome-86 Wakatatsumachi.

  • Walking

    If you are already in Takayama and prefer to walk, start from Takayama Station. Head north on Route 158 towards the city center. After about 1 km, turn left onto Wakatatsumachi Street. Continue walking straight for approximately 500 meters, and you will find Unryu Temple on your left at 1 Chome-86 Wakatatsumachi. This walk will take around 15-20 minutes.
