The Idojiri site was designated a National Historic Site in 1966 and was developed into a historic park with reconstructed pit dwellings. The Idojiri site is located at the southeastern foot of Mount Yatsugatake, with abundant spring water. Over 50 middle Jōmon period ruins are in the immediate area surrounding the Idojiri site because of abundant spring water.
