If you are traveling by car, start by heading north from central Kyoto. Take the Kyoto Jukan Expressway (Kyoto Outer Ring Road) and follow the signs for Kamigyo Ward. Exit at the Kamigyo Interchange and continue south on Route 162. After about 10 minutes, turn left onto Higurashi-dori, and then take the first right onto Kushigecho. Tokanji will be on your right at 721 Kushigecho. Parking is available nearby, but be mindful of any parking fees.

To reach Tokanji using public transportation, start at Kyoto Station. Take the JR Sanin Line to Enmachi Station. From Enmachi Station, you can catch a local bus (Bus Number 50) towards Kamigyo Ward and get off at the Kushigecho stop. After disembarking, walk a short distance south on Kushigecho Street, and Tokanji will be on your left at 721 Kushigecho. The total travel time is approximately 45 minutes, and the bus fare is around 230 yen.
