Sakurajima Volcanic Shore Park and Footbath: A Soothing Volcanic Oasis
Unwind in naturally heated foot baths with stunning volcanic views at Sakurajima Volcanic Shore Park, a unique and therapeutic escape in Kagoshima.
Sakurajima Volcanic Shore Park and Footbath is a serene oasis on Sakurajima Island, Kagoshima, Japan. Renowned for its natural hot foot baths, the park allows visitors to unwind while soaking in views of the active Sakurajima volcano and the surrounding ocean. The foot baths are heated by the island's volcanic activity, offering a refreshing and therapeutic experience. The park features walking paths through lush landscapes, inviting leisurely strolls and exploration. The Nagisa Lava Trail, a 3km path connecting the park to Karasujima Observatory, lets you witness nature's resilience on a lava field. The Sakurajima Visitor Center, near the ferry terminal, provides insights into the volcano's history and geology. Once an island, Sakurajima connected to Kyushu in the early 1900s due to lava flows from an eruption. Today, it remains one of Japan's most active volcanoes, with frequent small ash eruptions. The park offers a picturesque setting that changes with the seasons, especially beautiful during cherry blossom season.
