To reach Big Almaty Lake by public transport, take bus number 28 from the Almaty city center. The bus departs from the Republic Square. After about 30 minutes, alight at the stop near the Zeleny Bazar (Green Market). From there, you will need to take a taxi or a minibus (marshrutka) to the lake. The taxi fare should be around 1500-2000 KZT. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your ride.
