Klibühni Chur: Intimate Theater in Chur's Old Town

Klibühni Chur, whose name translates from the local dialect to “small stage,” is a cultural gem located in Chur's historic old town. Since its establishment in 1974, the theater has been a vibrant hub for performing arts, offering a diverse program of cabaret, pantomime, concerts, and plays. Klibühni emerged from Chur's burgeoning arts scene of the early 1970s, aiming to provide a platform for young artists and promote Kleinkunst. The theater is located at Kirchgasse 14, adjacent to the Antistitium. Klibühni is known for its intimate setting, which allows for close interaction between performers and audience members. The theater typically hosts around 120 performances each year, including both guest performances and original productions, some of which have garnered national attention. Klibühni also hosts the Höfli-Beiz, a pop-up restaurant serving high-quality food and wine alongside a cultural program during the summer months. Klibühni played a key role in the creation of the Churer Fest, a popular local festival. The Klibühni first organized the festival in 1975 to fund its theatrical endeavors, and in 1982, responsibility was handed over to other Chur associations. Today, Klibühni continues to enrich Chur's cultural landscape with its varied program and commitment to showcasing both local and international talent.
