Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Thamel, walk towards the north and reach the Ratna Park area. From Ratna Park, take the road leading to Basantapur Durbar Square. You will see the ancient palaces and temples along the way. Walk past these until you reach the eastern side of the square. Continue walking east until you reach the main road (Basantapur to Boudhanath). Cross over to the other side of the road to head towards Boudhanath Stupa. As you walk along the road, keep following the signs pointing towards Boudhanath. After about 30 minutes of walking, you will reach the Boudhanath Stupa. From here, you can either continue walking towards the north or take a right turn and walk along the road that leads to the Buddha Stupa Damai Tole, which is situated a short distance away. The stupa is located in a serene area, you will see the Buddha Stupa Damai Tole on your right.

  • Public Bus

    From Thamel, head to the nearest bus stop at Ratna Park. Look for a bus heading towards Boudhanath. The fare is quite cheap, usually around NPR 20-30. Once you get on the bus, inform the conductor that you want to get off at Boudhanath. The bus ride should take around 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive at Boudhanath Stupa, disembark and walk straight north until you reach the Buddha Stupa Damai Tole, which is a short walk from the stupa.

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from any of the rental shops in Thamel. Start your journey by cycling towards the airport road. As you ride, follow the signs for Boudhanath. The ride will take you approximately 30 minutes, depending on your cycling speed. Once you reach Boudhanath Stupa, park your bicycle securely and walk towards the north to find the Buddha Stupa Damai Tole, which is located a short distance from the stupa.
