If you are driving, start from the Abel Tasman National Park entrance at Marahau. Head north on the Riwaka-Sandy Bay Road (State Highway 60) for approximately 15 km until you reach the intersection with Canaan Road. Turn left onto Canaan Road and continue for about 7 km. You will see signs for Harwoods Hole; follow the signs and park in the designated area. The parking may incur a small fee, so be sure to have cash handy.

From Marahau, take the local bus service that operates in the Abel Tasman region. Ensure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Canaan Road. Once you disembark, you will need to walk approximately 2 km along Canaan Road to reach Harwoods Hole. Be prepared for a steep walk up the road with limited pedestrian pathways.

If you are already inside the park and prefer hiking, you can take the Harwoods Hole Track, which is accessible from the Canaan Downs area. This track is approximately a 1.5-hour walk (one way) and will take you through beautiful native bush. Ensure you wear sturdy hiking boots and carry water and snacks for the journey.
