Walking
From the Whanganui city center, start at the Whanganui Riverfront. Head west along Victoria Avenue until you reach the intersection with Rapanui Road. Turn left onto Rapanui Road and continue walking for about 3 kilometers. The Bason Botanic Gardens will be on your left at 552 Rapanui Road. Look for the entrance sign, and enjoy the beautiful gardens!

From the Whanganui city center, you can catch a bus that heads towards Castlecliff. Board the bus at the main bus stop on Victoria Avenue. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Rapanui Road. The bus ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at Rapanui Road, walk about 500 meters along Rapanui Road until you reach the entrance of Bason Botanic Gardens at 552 Rapanui Road.
