Walking
If you're starting from the Whangarei Town Centre, head south on Bank Street towards the Whangarei Art Museum. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rathbone Street. Turn right onto Rathbone Street and walk until you reach the bus station. From there, take the bus that goes to Whangarei Heads. The bus route will take you through scenic views of the area. Get off at the Ocean Beach Road stop. From the bus stop, walk down Ocean Beach Road for about 10 minutes. The beach will be on your left at 374 Ocean Beach Road. Follow the path towards the beach to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Cycling
Starting from Whangarei Town Centre, rent a bike from a local rental shop. Head south along Bank Street towards the Whangarei Art Museum, then take a right onto Rathbone Street. Follow Rathbone Street until you reach the bus station. Instead of taking the bus, continue cycling along State Highway 1 towards Whangarei Heads. The ride is approximately 14 km and will take around 40-50 minutes. Once you reach Whangarei Heads, turn onto Ocean Beach Road. Cycle down Ocean Beach Road for about 5 km until you reach 374 Ocean Beach Road. The beach will be on your left. Enjoy the ride, and remember to wear a helmet!

From Whangarei Town Centre, locate the main bus station on Rathbone Street. Check the schedule for buses heading to Whangarei Heads, which usually run every hour. Purchase a ticket to Whangarei Heads. Once on the bus, enjoy the scenic ride which lasts about 30 minutes. Disembark at the Ocean Beach Road stop. Walk down Ocean Beach Road for approximately 10 minutes, and you will find Ocean Beach at 374 Ocean Beach Road on your left. Make sure to check the return bus schedule to plan your return trip.
