Getting There

Walking
If you're starting from the Whangarei Town Centre, head south on Bank Street towards the Whangarei Art Museum. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rathbone Street. Turn right onto Rathbone Street and walk until you reach the bus station. From there, take the bus that goes to Whangarei Heads. The bus route will take you through scenic views of the area. Get off at the Ocean Beach Road stop. From the bus stop, walk down Ocean Beach Road for about 10 minutes. The beach will be on your left at 374 Ocean Beach Road. Follow the path towards the beach to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Starting from Whangarei Town Centre, rent a bike from a local rental shop. Head south along Bank Street towards the Whangarei Art Museum, then take a right onto Rathbone Street. Follow Rathbone Street until you reach the bus station. Instead of taking the bus, continue cycling along State Highway 1 towards Whangarei Heads. The ride is approximately 14 km and will take around 40-50 minutes. Once you reach Whangarei Heads, turn onto Ocean Beach Road.
