Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from Whangarei. Head south on State Highway 1 (SH1) for about 25 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for State Highway 15 (SH15) towards Marsden Point. Follow SH15 for about 12 kilometers, passing through the town of Ruakaka. Continue on this road until you see signs for Marsden Point Beach. Turn onto Mair Road, and the beach will be on your left. Parking is available near the beach, and there is no cost to park.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Marsden Point Beach via public transportation, take a bus from Whangarei to Ruakaka. You can catch the bus from Whangarei's bus station. The journey typically takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Ruakaka, you may need to use a taxi or rideshare service to get to Marsden Point Beach, as public transport may not provide direct access. Taxi fares from Ruakaka to Marsden Point Beach will vary, but expect to pay around NZD 30-40 for the short trip.

• Walking

  If you're already in Ruakaka and prefer to walk, you can hike to Marsden Point Beach. From the Ruakaka bus stop, head west on SH15, then take the first left onto Mair Road. The beach is about a 4-kilometer walk from Ruakaka town center. The walk offers scenic views of the area, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially on warm days.
