Start at the Whangarei Town Basin. Take the CityLink bus towards Whangarei Heads. The bus stop is located near the i-SITE Visitor Information Centre. Make sure to get a ticket before boarding. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the Whangarei Heads stop. From there, the WWII Radar Station is a short 1.5 km walk. Head south on Whangarei Heads Road, then turn left onto Bream Head Scenic Reserve track, which leads you to the station.

If you're renting a bicycle in Whangarei, start from the Town Basin and head towards the Hatea River cycleway. Follow the river heading east until you reach the intersection with Whangarei Heads Road. Turn left onto Whangarei Heads Road and continue for approximately 10 km. Look for signs directing you to the Bream Head Scenic Reserve where the WWII Radar Station is located. The route is scenic with some hills, so be prepared for a workout!
