Make your way to the Braga train station located at Avenida da Liberdade. Purchase a ticket for a train to Guimarães. Trains run regularly and take approximately 30 minutes. Upon arriving in Guimarães, exit the train station and head towards the main street, Rua de São Paulo, which will lead you to the city center.

If you're already in Guimarães, you can walk to Varanda de Pilatos from the city center. Start at Praça de São Tiago and head northeast on Rua de São Paulo. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rua de Monforte. Turn left onto Rua de Monforte, which will lead you to the base of the hill. From there, follow the signs that indicate the path to the Sanctuary of Penha, which is a steep but enjoyable walk taking approximately 30-40 minutes.
