Car
To reach Nyungwe Forest National Park from Volcanoes National Park by car, start by heading southwest on the main road (Nyegezi Road) towards Ruhengeri. Continue on this road for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the town of Musanze. In Musanze, follow signs to the N4 highway and merge onto it heading south. After about 70 kilometers, you will approach the town of Huye. From Huye, take the road towards Nyungwe, which is well marked. The journey from Volcanoes National Park to Nyungwe Forest National Park takes about 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Ensure you have enough fuel and snacks for the journey, as stops may be limited.

Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from Musanze to Huye. First, travel from Volcanoes National Park to Musanze by local taxi or car, which should take about 30 minutes. Once in Musanze, head to the bus station and catch a bus to Huye. The bus ride typically lasts around 1.5 to 2 hours and costs approximately 3,000 Rwandan Francs (RWF). After arriving in Huye, you will need to take a taxi or a motorcycle taxi (known locally as 'moto') to Nyungwe Forest National Park, which is about 30 kilometers from Huye. This taxi ride may cost around 10,000 to 15,000 RWF, depending on your negotiation skills.

Shared Taxi
Another option is to use a shared taxi (known as 'taxi-brousse') from Musanze to Huye. Similar to the bus, you should first travel to Musanze from Volcanoes National Park. In Musanze, look for shared taxis heading to Huye. These taxis are faster than buses and can cost slightly more, averaging around 4,000 RWF. After reaching Huye, take a moto taxi to Nyungwe Forest National Park, which will cost around 10,000 to 15,000 RWF.
