Walk
Start from the central area of Freetown, such as the Cotton Tree. From there, head towards the main road leading to the east. Look for signs directing you to the beach areas. Continue walking along the main road until you reach the junction with the sign for Darkwood Beach. At this junction, turn left and follow the road until you see signs directing you to Darkwood Beach. The beach is located a short distance down this road.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from a local shop in Freetown. Begin your journey from the central area, cycling towards the east along the main road. Keep an eye out for directional signs to the beaches. Continue straight until you reach a fork in the road; take the left path that leads towards Darkwood Beach. Follow this road for a few kilometers, and you will arrive at your destination.
Public Transport
From the center of Freetown, you can take a local 'Poda Poda' (shared taxi) that is heading towards the beach areas. Board the vehicle and inform the driver that you want to go to Darkwood Beach. The driver will drop you off at the nearest point to the beach. Keep in mind that you may have to walk a short distance from the drop-off point to reach the beach.
