Walking
If you are starting from central Freetown, head towards the waterfront area. Walk towards the main street called Siaka Stevens Street, which is the main thoroughfare of the city. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Tower Hill. Turn left onto Tower Hill and follow it until you see a sign for the beach area. Follow the signs toward Dickenson Bay Beach. The walk should take about 30-40 minutes depending on your pace.
Public Transport (Mini-Bus)
From the central Freetown area, locate the bus station near Siaka Stevens Street. Look for a mini-bus heading towards the beach or specifically to Dickenson Bay. The bus fare is very cheap, usually around 5,000 Leones. Once you board, inform the driver that you want to get off at Dickenson Bay Beach. The journey will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive, follow the signs leading to the beach.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer cycling, there are places to rent bicycles in central Freetown. Rent a bike and head towards Siaka Stevens Street, then follow the same route as if walking. Cycling should take around 20-30 minutes, and it will allow you to enjoy the scenery along the way. Ensure you keep to the side of the road and be cautious of traffic.
