Start from the center of Freetown, specifically at the Cotton Tree on George Street. From there, head south on George Street until you reach the junction with Rawdon Street. Turn left onto Rawdon Street and continue straight until you reach the junction with Siaka Stevens Street. Turn right onto Siaka Stevens Street. Follow this road as it curves and becomes Lumley Beach Road. Continue along Lumley Beach Road until you reach the end of the road where it meets the water. From here, you can hire a local boat or inquire about ferry services to Crabbs. The boat journey will take you directly to Hells Gate Island.

Look for a 'poda poda' (minibus) heading towards the west along the Lumley Beach Road. Inform the driver that you want to go to Crabbs.
