Getting There

  • Car

    From Horton Plains National Park, head southeast on the A7 road towards Nuwara Eliya. Continue on the A7 for approximately 14 km until you reach the junction with the B423 road. Take a left onto the B423 and follow it for about 23 km until you reach the town of Mahiyangana. From Mahiyangana, take the A26 towards Manampitiya. After about 15 km, turn left onto Manampitiya-Aralaganwila-Maduru Oya Road. Continue straight for about 12 km until you arrive at Maduru Oya National Park. Make sure to check your fuel before departing, as there may not be many opportunities to refuel along the route.

    To reach Maduru Oya National Park from Horton Plains National Park using public transportation, you will first need to take a bus from the nearest bus station in Nuwara Eliya. Board a bus heading to Mahiyangana. The journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Mahiyangana, disembark and look for local buses or tuk-tuks heading to Manampitiya. The fare for the bus may vary but expect to pay around 100-200 LKR.
