If you're in the Masai Steppe, renting a car is one of the most convenient ways to reach Big Momela Lake. From Arusha, take the A23 road towards Dodoma. After approximately 30 kilometers, look for signs directing you to the entrance of Arusha National Park. Turn left onto the road leading into the park. Follow the road for about 15 kilometers. Keep an eye out for signs pointing to Big Momela Lake, which will be located on your right. The journey should take around 1 hour from Arusha, depending on traffic.

To reach Big Momela Lake using public transportation, start by taking a 'matatu' (shared taxi) from Arusha to the main entrance of Arusha National Park. Matatus can be found at the central bus station in Arusha. The ride to the park entrance costs approximately 2,000 TZS (Tanzanian Shillings) and takes about 45 minutes. Upon arrival at the park entrance, you will need to pay an entrance fee of around 30 USD per person as a foreign tourist. From the entrance, you can either walk or hire a local guide to take you to Big Momela Lake, which is roughly 8 kilometers away.
