If you're traveling by car, head towards Penrith. From the M6 motorway, take exit 40 and follow the A66 towards Penrith. Upon reaching the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A6 towards Penrith. Continue straight until you reach the next roundabout, where you should take the third exit onto Gilwilly Road. Follow this road for about 0.5 miles, and you'll find Thacka Beck Nature Reserve on your left at Gilwilly Industrial Estate, CA11 9BQ. There is limited parking available nearby, so plan to arrive early to secure a spot.

If you are using public transport, take a train to Penrith Station, which is well-connected to major cities. From Penrith Station, you can take a bus (Stagecoach service 104) towards Appleby. Get off at the Gilwilly Industrial Estate stop. The Nature Reserve is just a short walk from the bus stop, located nearby at the estate. For those already in Penrith, Thacka Beck Nature Reserve is accessible by walking. From the town center, head southwest on the A6 towards Gilwilly Road. Continue on the A6 for about 1 mile and then turn onto Gilwilly Road. The reserve is located at Gilwilly Industrial Estate, just a short distance ahead. This is a pleasant walk that will take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on your pace.
