Car
If you are driving, start your journey from Hobart. Head northwest on the Brooker Highway (A10) towards Glenorchy. Continue on the A10 for approximately 60 km until you reach the junction with the Lyell Highway (A10). Take the Lyell Highway and follow it for about 70 km, passing through the towns of New Norfolk and Queenstown. Once you reach the turnoff for the Lake St Clair National Park (approximately 20 km after Queenstown), turn left onto the road leading to the park. After about 10 km, you will find the car park for the D’Alton Falls track. Please note that there is a park entry fee of approximately AUD $10 per vehicle.

Public Transportation
For those relying on public transport, catch a bus from Hobart to Queenstown via the Tasmanian public transport service. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours. Upon arriving in Queenstown, you will need to arrange a taxi or rideshare to take you to the Lake St Clair National Park entrance (approximately 20 km away). Taxis may be limited, so it's advisable to book in advance. Once at the park, the D’Alton Falls track starts from the main car park. Be mindful of the park entry fee of around AUD $10 per vehicle; check if your taxi driver can assist with this.

Once you arrive at the car park for D’Alton Falls, the hiking track to the falls begins here. The walk is approximately 2 km one way and is considered moderate in difficulty. It typically takes about 1 hour to reach the falls. The track is well-marked, and you will enjoy scenic views along the way. Ensure you wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry sufficient water and snacks for the journey.
