    From South Lake Tahoe, take Highway 89 north for approximately 12 miles. Rubicon Trailhead South is located off Highway 89 near Emerald Bay. Be aware that parking is limited, especially during peak season. A new shuttle service operates from various locations around Lake Tahoe to Emerald Bay, which may be a convenient alternative. Parking at Vikingsholm and D.L. Bliss State Park costs $10. Parking along SR 89 is free, but fills up quickly. Note: From July 15 to October 15, a new shuttle service operates daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. between various locations and Emerald Bay. Roundtrip tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 13 and under.
