Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Avarua, walk south on Ara Tapu (the main road) towards the Avatiu area. Continue for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Avatiu Road, then turn left. Follow Avatiu Road until you see the sign for the Te Rua Manga trailhead on your right. The walk from Avarua takes approximately 30-45 minutes. There are no specific costs involved in walking to the trailhead.

  • Public Transport

    Take the Clockwise or Anti-Clockwise bus from Avarua to the Avatiu area. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Avatiu Road. From there, walk towards Avatiu Road and look for the trailhead sign for Te Rua Manga. The bus fare is approximately NZD 5 for a single trip. Buses run regularly, but check the timetable as services are limited on Saturdays and Sundays.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are available in Avarua and can take you directly to the trailhead at the end of Uruau Drive. A taxi ride from Avarua to the trailhead will cost approximately NZD 15-20. It's recommended to book in advance as there are a limited number of taxis.
