Discover more about Buza Gate

Buza Gate, meaning 'hole' in local dialect, provides a unique and somewhat secretive entry into Dubrovnik's magnificent Old Town. Unlike the grand Pile Gate or Ploce Gate, Buza is a more modest opening in the northern walls, offering a less crowded and more intimate experience. Originally opened in 1908 during Austrian rule, it provided easier access for residents living outside the city walls. Stepping through Buza Gate, you're immediately greeted with breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea. The gate's location on the northern side of the city walls offers a unique perspective, different from the views seen from the more popular southern and western sides. From here, narrow streets wind down into the heart of the Old Town, leading to the Stradun, Dubrovnik's main street. Buza Gate is also the gateway to some of Dubrovnik's most unique attractions. Just outside the gate, you'll find the cable car station, which whisks visitors up to Mount Srd for panoramic views of the city and coastline. Nearby, cliffside bars offer a perfect spot to relax with a drink and soak in the stunning sunset views. While offering a less direct route to the main attractions, Buza Gate provides a charming and memorable introduction to the Pearl of the Adriatic.
