Oremandsgaard Estate traces its roots to the 14th century, but its modern identity as an organic pioneer began in 1861 when Alfred Hage acquired the property. The Hage family has stewarded the estate for five generations, establishing themselves as organic pioneers since 1967—decades before the movement gained mainstream recognition. Today, Oremandsgaard remains a working organic manor where tradition and innovation intertwine. The distillery itself occupies a beautifully restored historic stable, where copper stills bubble with new spirits and the air fills with the aromas of botanical experimentation.

From Home Kitchen to International Recognition

Radius Distillery's origin story is one of serendipitous collaboration. It began at Kristian's kitchen table with experimental home-brewed gin that, by the 18th batch, earned a prestigious silver medal at a San Francisco spirits competition. Simultaneously, landowner August harbored a dream of creating calvados from apples grown in the estate's orchards—a vision inspired by the French tradition. This shared passion sparked a partnership that transformed into a thriving craft distillery. The estate has since planted a 10-hectare apple orchard specifically to support future apple brandy production that aims to rival French Calvados in quality. Until that vision matures, the distillery collaborates with local growers, exchanging gin for homegrown apples.

The vast majority of raw materials are sown and harvested on Oremandsgaard itself, creating a direct connection between soil and spirit. The distillery's custom-built Müller Potstill captures the essence of each botanical, ensuring every drop carries its full character. The current portfolio includes award-winning gin in multiple varieties, organic aquavit, whisky aged in barrels in the stable's historic loft, and distinctive apple brandy. The estate's heritage of special malting barley, begun by great-grandfather Alfred Hage in the 1800s, continues to inform production philosophy.
