Getting There

• Bus

  From Hveragerdi, head to the nearest bus stop located on the main road (Reykjavik - Selfoss road). You can catch the bus route 51 towards Reykjavik. Make sure to check the bus schedule for departure times, as they may vary. After approximately 30 minutes, disembark at the stop named 'Thingvellir'. Once you arrive, follow the signs directing you toward Silfra, which is about a 20-minute walk from the bus stop. The path is well-marked, and you will enjoy scenic views along the way.

• Bike

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Hveragerdi. Start by heading north on the main road (Reykjavik - Selfoss road) toward Thingvellir National Park. The bike ride will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your cycling speed. Follow the signs to Thingvellir, and once you enter the park, continue towards Silfra. Make sure to wear appropriate cycling gear and check the weather conditions before you set off.

• Walking

  If you are feeling adventurous and want to walk, start from the center of Hveragerdi and head towards the main road (Reykjavik - Selfoss road). This walk is quite long, approximately 18 kilometers, and will take around 4 to 5 hours. Follow the road toward Thingvellir National Park. Upon entering the park, follow the signs to Silfra, which is a popular snorkeling and diving site. Ensure you have enough water and snacks for the journey.
