Getting There

Car
If you're traveling by car, head towards Aso city from anywhere in Higo. Follow the Route 57 towards Aso and take the exit for Route 265. Continue on Route 265 until you reach the Aso Nakadake entrance. There is a parking lot available near the crater with a parking fee of approximately 500 yen. From the parking area, follow the designated walking paths to the crater.

Public Transportation
To reach Aso Nakadake Crater 4 by public transportation, first take a train from Kumamoto to Aso Station (approximately 40 minutes). Upon arrival at Aso Station, catch the Nishi Aso Bus (Aso Kanko Line) to the Nakadake Crater bus stop. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance as service may be limited. Once you arrive at the Nakadake Crater bus stop, follow the marked paths to reach the crater. The bus fare is approximately 1,000 yen one way.
