Car
If you are traveling by car, you can access the Mt. Aso Visitor Center via the Kyushu Expressway. From Kumamoto City, take the Kyushu Expressway (E3) heading towards Aso. After about 40 minutes, take the exit for Aso (Exit 41). Follow Route 57, which will lead you directly to Aso. Once in Aso, follow the signs to Akamizu. The visitor center is located at 1930-1 Akamizu, Aso, Kumamoto 869-2231. There is parking available on site. Note that there may be a toll fee for using the expressway, which is approximately ¥1,000-¥1,500 depending on your exit.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start your journey at Kumamoto Station. Take the JR Hohi Line to Aso Station, which takes about 50 minutes.
