Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, head towards Aso City from your starting location in Kyushu. Use the Kyushu Expressway and take the 'Aso' exit. Once you exit, follow Route 57 towards Aso. Continue on Route 57, and then take a left onto Route 265. Follow this road until you reach the Aso Volcano Museum located at 1930-1 Akamizu, Aso, Kumamoto 869-2231. There is parking available at the museum, and no external costs for parking.

  • Train and Bus

    If you prefer public transportation, take the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kumamoto Station. From Kumamoto Station, transfer to the JR Hohi Line and take a train to Aso Station. The journey takes about 1 hour. From Aso Station, you can take a local bus (Aso City Community Bus) towards the Aso Volcano Museum. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes, and the bus fare is around 500 yen. Get off at the 'Aso Volcano Museum' stop, and the museum will be just a short walk away.
