Car
If you are traveling by car from Tokyo, take the Kan-Etsu Expressway (関越自動車道) heading towards Nagano. The journey will take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic. Exit at the Karuizawa IC (軽井沢インターチェンジ) and follow the signs for Route 146. Continue on Route 146, then turn onto Route 18. Follow the signs to Nagakura and then to the museum, which is located at 〒389-0111 Nagano, Kitasaku District, Karuizawa, 軽井沢町Nagakura, 離山2052-2. There is parking available at the museum for a fee.
Public Transportation
To reach the Museum of Contemporary Art, Karuizawa using public transportation, take the Shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo Station to Karuizawa Station, which takes approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at Karuizawa Station, take the local bus bound for Nagakura (離山行き). The bus ride will take around 20 minutes. Get off at the 'Nagakura' bus stop, and from there, it's a 10-minute walk to the museum. Be sure to check the bus schedule as it may vary throughout the day.
