Start at Kyoto Station. Take the JR San-in Line (also known as the JR Sagano Line) towards Saga-Arashiyama Station. The train ride takes about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Saga-Arashiyama Station, exit the station and follow the signs to the 'Arashiyama' area.

From Saga-Arashiyama Station, walk west along the main street, which is called Sagano Shinden. It is a pleasant 10 to 15-minute walk (approximately 1 kilometer). As you walk, you will see various shops and cafes. Continue straight until you reach the entrance of the Sagano Bamboo Grove. Look for signs directing you to the bamboo grove; it is well-marked.
