Getting There

  • Subway

    From Osaka Station, take the JR Tokaido Line towards Kyoto. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at Kyoto Station. From Kyoto Station, transfer to the Karasuma Line (subway) and head towards Kokusaikaikan. Get off at the next stop, Shijo Station. At Shijo Station, take Exit 1 and walk straight until you reach Shijo-dori Street. Turn left and continue walking until you reach the intersection with Higashioji-dori Street. Turn right and walk for about 15 minutes until you arrive at Tatsumi-jinja Shrine.

  • Bus

    From Osaka, head to the nearest bus station. Take the highway bus bound for Kyoto Station. Once you arrive at Kyoto Station, you can take bus number 100 or 206 from the bus terminal in front of the station. Get off at the Matsubara-dori Higashiyama bus stop. From there, walk south down Matsubara-dori Street, then turn left onto Motoyoshicho. Continue straight until you arrive at Tatsumi-jinja Shrine.

  • Train

    From Namba Station in Osaka, take the Nankai Kuko Line to Kansai Airport. Get off at Namba Station, then transfer to the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line towards Umeda. Get off at Shinsaibashi Station and transfer to the Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line towards Tsuruhashi. Get off at Tsuruhashi Station and transfer to the JR Line heading towards Kyoto. Get off at Kyoto Station and then follow the subway route as described above.

  • Walking

    If you are already in the Higashiyama area, you can find Tatsumi-jinja Shrine by walking. Start at Kiyomizu-dera Temple and head north towards Sannezaka Street. Continue along Sannezaka until you reach Ninenzaka, then follow the road until you reach Higashiyama-dori Street. Turn right and proceed until you reach the intersection with Motoyoshicho. The shrine will be on your left.
