Discover more about Observation Platform 21st Floor of the Prefectural Office

The Observation Platform on the 21st Floor of the Prefectural Office provides visitors with a sweeping panorama of Shizuoka City. On a clear day, the view extends to the majestic Mount Fuji, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists. The platform offers an unobstructed perspective of Sunpu Castle Park, a historical site that was once home to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder and first shōgun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan. The observation deck is located in Aoi Ward, which is the northern part of Shizuoka City and the largest of its three wards. Aoi Ward is home to both the Shizuoka city offices and the Shizuoka Prefectural offices. The city of Shizuoka has a rich history, dating back to the 8th century when it served as the capital of Suruga Province. In 2003, Shizuoka merged with the port city of Shimizu and other neighboring municipalities and became a designated city in 2005. The observation deck is free to the public and offers a quiet, spacious environment to relax and take in the scenery. The building itself is next to a park, offering a green space in the urban environment. It's a less crowded and more affordable alternative to observation decks in larger cities.
