    From Zao Onsen, head southeast on Route 286. Follow the signs for Sendai. After approximately 30 minutes of driving, you will reach the intersection with Route 457. Turn right onto Route 457, and continue for about 10 kilometers until you see signs for Akiu Shrine. The shrine is located at Shimizukubokita-22 Akiumachi Nagafukuro, Taihaku Ward, Sendai. There is parking available at the shrine.

    Begin your journey from Zao Onsen by taking a local bus to the nearest train station, Yamagata Station. The bus ride takes about 20 minutes. From Yamagata Station, take the Shinkansen (bullet train) toward Sendai Station, which takes approximately 30 minutes. Once at Sendai Station, transfer to the Sendai City Bus (Line 15) heading to Akiu Onsen. Alight at the Akiu Shrine bus stop, which is a short walk from the shrine entrance.
