Getting There

  • Walking

    From downtown Lake Placid, head north on Main Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with NY-86. Turn left onto NY-86 and continue walking for about 1.5 miles. You will see the High Peaks Information Center on your right at 1002 Adirondack Loj Rd. The center is well-marked and has a parking lot, but since you are walking, you can directly access the entrance.

    If you prefer biking, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in downtown Lake Placid. Start your ride by heading north on Main Street. After about 0.5 miles, turn left onto NY-86. Continue riding for approximately 1.5 miles. The High Peaks Information Center will be on your right at 1002 Adirondack Loj Rd. This route is bike-friendly with a wide shoulder for safety.
