To reach Custer State Park Wildlife Loop Road, start at Rapid City, South Dakota. From downtown Rapid City, head south on SD-79 for about 25 miles until you reach the junction with US-16. Turn left onto US-16 and continue for approximately 20 miles. When you reach the town of Custer, follow the signs for Custer State Park. You will turn onto SD-87 South, which leads directly to the park entrance. Once inside Custer State Park, follow the signs for Wildlife Loop Road. Note that there is a park entrance fee of $20 per vehicle, which is valid for up to seven days.

If you are using public transportation, you can take a bus from Rapid City to Custer. Check the schedule for the Black Hills Knowledge Network bus service that operates between these two cities. Once in Custer, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach the park entrance, as public transport does not go directly to Custer State Park. The park entry fee of $20 per vehicle still applies, so if you opt for a taxi or rideshare, factor this cost into your budget.
