If you are in the heart of New Town, head towards the east along George Street. Continue straight until you reach the end where it merges into Leith Street. Cross the road and keep walking until you reach the entrance to Calton Hill, which is on your left. Use the ramp or steps to ascend Calton Hill. Once on top, follow the path leading to the Dugald Stewart Monument, which is easily visible from the hilltop.

You can catch a bus from various locations in New Town. Look for a bus stop with routes heading towards 'Calton Hill'. The Lothian Buses service number 36 is a good choice. Board the bus and disembark at the nearest stop to Calton Hill. From there, follow the signs leading to the entrance of Calton Hill and then proceed to the monument. Note that a single ticket will cost approximately £1.80.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the nearby bike-sharing services in New Town. From the rental station, head east towards Leith Street. Follow the cycle path towards Calton Hill. You may need to dismount and walk your bike up the hill, but the monument will be prominent once you reach the top. Ensure you have a bike lock as you may need to secure your bike while visiting the monument.
