Discover more about Mountain Top

Located on St. Peter Mountain, Mountain Top has been a premier tourist attraction in St. Thomas for over half a century. Standing 1,500 feet above Magens Bay, it provides sweeping views of more than 15 islands and cays. Originally opened in 1963, Mountain Top quickly became famous for its Banana Daiquiri, invented in 1953 by British Sea Captain George Soule. According to the legend, Captain Soule searched the Caribbean for the perfect cocktail and created the Banana Daiquiri at Mountain Top by blending Cruzan Rum, sugar cane extract, ripe bananas, fresh lime juice, and a secret banana liqueur. Besides the views and the daiquiris, Mountain Top features a large duty-free shop with jewelry, clothing, souvenirs, and local crafts. Although a fire destroyed the original structure in the 1970s, the landmark was rebuilt and continues to welcome visitors. Today, Mountain Top remains a must-see destination, offering a blend of natural beauty, shopping, and Caribbean flavors.
