Walking
From Praia do Tarrafal, head south along the coastline. The walk is approximately 6 km and should take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the path can be uneven in places.
Public Transport
To reach Farol da Ponta Preta using public transport, head to the nearest 'aluguer' (shared taxi) stand in Praia do Tarrafal. Look for a vehicle marked with a sign indicating it goes to 'Ponta Preta'. The ride will cost around 100 CVE and takes approximately 25 minutes. Inform the driver of your destination. Once you arrive at the drop-off point, it's a short 10-minute walk to the lighthouse along a well-trodden path.
Taxi
The best option is to get a local taxi number from your hotel or Tarrafal's tourist office. A private taxi ride costs around 4,000–6,000 CVE for two hours. Plus, you can request stops, such as along the scenic route from Tarrafal to Rabelado, which offers stunning views of the east coast.
