    If you are traveling by car from Gold Country, you will most likely be starting from towns like Nevada City or Grass Valley. Begin your journey by taking CA-20 E from either town. Follow CA-20 until you reach I-80 E. Merge onto I-80 E and continue until you reach the exit for CA-49 S toward Auburn. Take CA-49 S, which will lead you through the beautiful Sierra foothills. After about 40 miles, you'll want to merge onto CA-120 E toward Yosemite. Continue on CA-120 E for approximately 60 miles until you arrive at the entrance to Yosemite National Park. Be aware that there is an entrance fee of $35 per vehicle, valid for 7 days.

    For those relying on public transportation, you can take a bus from various towns in Gold Country to Merced, CA. Look for the YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System) which provides connections to Yosemite. You will first need to get to the nearest Greyhound bus station. From Nevada City or Grass Valley, take a local bus to Sacramento and then board a Greyhound bus to Merced. Once in Merced, transfer to the YARTS bus that goes directly to Yosemite. Be sure to check the YARTS schedule in advance, as service may vary seasonally. Costs will include the Greyhound fare (approximately $30) and YARTS fare (around $10).
