Escape to the serene beauty of Atwell Mill Campground in Sequoia National Park. Discover towering sequoias, pristine wilderness, and unparalleled tranquility in the heart of the Mineral King area.
Escape the crowds and immerse yourself in the tranquility of Atwell Mill Campground, nestled in the Mineral King area of Sequoia National Park. This tent-only campground, situated at 7,500 feet, offers a unique experience among towering sequoias and alongside the East Fork of the Kaweah River. The journey itself is an adventure, traversing the winding, partially unpaved Mineral King Road, adding to the sense of remoteness and escape. Once a logging site, the area has been reclaimed by nature, providing a peaceful retreat for hikers, backpackers, and nature enthusiasts. With limited amenities and a focus on preserving the natural environment, Atwell Mill provides a genuine connection to the Sierra Nevada wilderness. Be prepared for cooler temperatures due to the high elevation and the possibility of encountering wildlife, including black bears. Remember to reserve your spot in advance and check road conditions before you go, as Mineral King Road is subject to seasonal closures and construction delays.
