- Check Mineral King Road conditions before you go, as it's a narrow, winding road that's subject to seasonal closures and construction delays. RVs and trailers are not recommended.
- Protect your vehicle from marmots, especially in spring and early summer. Purchase a tarp at the Silver City store to cover radiator hoses and prevent damage.
- Bring all necessary supplies, as the Silver City market has limited offerings. There is no ice or gasoline available at the resort.
- Make reservations for lodging and dining in advance, especially during peak season. The Silver City Store Restaurant is popular and can get crowded.
- Pack for a variety of weather conditions, as temperatures in the Mineral King Valley can fluctuate dramatically. Bring layers of clothing, including warm jackets and rain gear.

Driving
From Three Rivers, CA, head east on Highway 198 for approximately 2 miles. Look for the Mineral King Road turnoff on the right. Mineral King Road is a winding mountain road; drive carefully. Continue on Mineral King Road for about 21 miles to reach Silver City Mountain Resort. Be aware that the road is narrow and partially unpaved in the upper section. Check for any construction delays. During construction, expect delays up to 30 minutes between 7 AM and 10 AM and between 4 PM and 7 PM. Full closures may occur between 10 AM and 4 PM. There are no fees or tolls to access Mineral King Road.
