Walking
From Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (main train station), the Marktplatz is approximately a 20-25 minute walk. Head straight from the station towards the city center, following the Hauptstrasse (main shopping street). The Hauptstrasse is a pedestrian zone, making for an easy and enjoyable walk. Continue straight, passing the Universitätsplatz (University Square) on your left. The Marktplatz will be directly ahead, marked by the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Hercules Fountain.

From Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof, take tram lines 21, 24, or 26 to the 'Marktplatz' stop. The ride takes approximately 10 minutes. A single ticket (Einzelfahrschein) costs around €2.60. Alternatively, you can purchase a day ticket (Tageskarte) for unlimited travel within Heidelberg for approximately €6.50. The HeidelbergCARD includes free travel on public transport within the city.
