There is parking available near the lift, which is typically free.

For those using public transportation, start at Dewa Station. Take the JR Yamagata Line towards Yamagata Station. From Yamagata Station, transfer to the Yamagata Bus service heading towards Nishikawa. Get off at the Tsukiyamazawa bus stop. The Gassan lift is a short walk from the bus stop.
