Getting There

Car
From Hida, head southeast on Route 158 towards Matsumoto. After approximately 1 hour of driving, you will reach Matsumoto city. Continue on Route 158 until you reach the Kamikochi entrance. Follow the signs for Kamikochi. Note that there is a parking fee of about 1,000 yen per day at the Kamikochi parking area. From the parking area, you will need to take a shuttle bus to Kamikochikanko Center, which costs around 2,000 yen for a round trip.

If you're using public transportation, start by taking a train from Hida to Matsumoto Station. The train journey takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. Upon arrival at Matsumoto Station, transfer to the Alpico Kotsu bus service that goes directly to Kamikochi. The bus ride takes about 1 hour and costs around 2,500 yen one way.
