Car
If you're driving from the center of Hitachi, take Route 6 heading towards Ibaraki. Follow the signs to the Joban Expressway and merge onto it. After approximately 30 kilometers, take the exit toward Ishioka Interchange. From there, continue on Route 50 until you reach the intersection with Route 6. Turn left onto Route 6 and follow it for about 10 kilometers until you reach Sumida City. Look for signs directing you to Hyotan Pond. There is parking available nearby, but be aware that fees may apply.

Public Transportation
For those relying on public transport, start by taking the Hitachi Line from Hitachi Station to Katsuta Station. From Katsuta Station, transfer to the Suigun Line bound for Mito. Get off at Mito Station and switch to the joban Line. Take the train towards Ueno and alight at Asakusa Station. From Asakusa Station, transfer to the Tobu Skytree Line and head towards Oshiage Station. Once at Oshiage, you can either walk to Hyotan Pond or take a local bus that connects to the park. Make sure to have a prepaid Suica or Pasmo card for easy travel on trains and buses. Total travel time should be around 2-3 hours, including transfers.
