Car
If you are driving, start by navigating to Shintoku in Hokkaido. From Sapporo, take the Hokkaido Expressway (道央自動車道) towards Asahikawa. Continue on the expressway until you reach the Shintoku Interchange (新得IC). After exiting, follow Route 38 (国道38号) toward Shintoku city. Once in Shintoku, follow Route 272 (国道272号) towards the Karikachi-tohge Observation Deck. The observation deck is well-marked, and you can park nearby. The drive from Sapporo will take approximately 2.5 hours, depending on traffic. Note that parking is free.

Public Transportation
To reach the Karikachi-tohge Observation Deck via public transportation, first take a train from Sapporo Station to Shintoku Station. The train ride takes approximately 2.5 hours and you may need to transfer at Takikawa Station. Once you arrive at Shintoku Station, you can take a local bus towards the Karikachi-tohge area. Please check the local bus schedule ahead of time, as services may be limited. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Be sure to confirm the return bus schedule for your trip back.
